As a counselor working with students in the rural communities of Northern Arizona over the past 5 years, Michael Adams is determined to help students shift their perspective on life. Hearing hundreds of stories from students working through self-doubt, tragedy, alienation, self-harm, depression, and heartbreak has provided Adams with the compassion to speak to the necessary mindset shift required from Native youth. His lively youthful energy connects easily with students as he shares his obstacles from high school and reframes the challenges of life into inspiring opportunities.
Over the course of his young career, Michael has completed his bachelors from Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA in Psychology and moved on to complete a Master’s in School Counseling from Northern Arizona University. He completed 2 years in a PhD program at NAU before deciding to get more applied experience. Michael worked in 2 high schools over the course of 5 years on the Hopi and Navajo reservation working directly with students. Recently, Michael has published his first book “A Warrior’s Mindset” a training guide for students in shifting their mindset for success.
Michael believes that each person is capable of so much and the current circumstances in life do not determine your destiny. He teaches that each person has the capability to grow and attain amazing results. “I fully believe that each person is valuable and deserving of much success.” He is on a personal mission to raise the confidence level of Native Youth by sharing his inspiring message of hope and teaching the principles of transformation.
